After have two greats like Gruden and Dungy all of these loosing season suck. Four out of five since Jon left. And now we look as if we are again in a rebuilding year for 2014 how can they let this guy go at best 8-8 next season?
Defense will rule in Tampa again. We will draft a defensive player or an offensive lineman that can run block and Lovie Smith will be the next coach in Tampa 2014.

you mean some fan on a message board started a thread calling for his team to hire some "big name", retread as head coach?

I'm shocked.

The former Bears coach emerged from his self-imposed hibernation when he appeared on ESPN twice Thursday. He was on “SportsCenter” in the morning to talk about the NFL draft. He addressed his future on ‘‘NFL Live’’ in the afternoon, saying he plans to ‘‘enjoy [the 2013 season] from a different perspective’’ and coach again in 2014.

Also scuttle from October

We can only hope.

Schiano needs to get fired first for this to even be a possibility, and as of right now, I think the Glazers are keeping him.

Yea, I think a win against the Bills tomorrow will officially give Schiano another season. The only way I see him getting fired is if he loses out, and even then, I could still see the Glazers keeping him.

The NFL is all about hard-nosed defense and ultra-conservative run, run, run offense these days. Lovie Smith is the best at this style and we should definitely jump at the opportunity to rekindle that 90's spirit right here in Tampa. The days of high-powered offenses reigning supreme in the NFL are OVER.

I disagree - it's about offense. The league has ensured that defenses can't be hard nosed anymore. They protect the QB from hits as well as WRs.

If this were true, then no one would have a problem with Schiano's style of offense. Honestly, I think defenses have to be built to force offensive mistakes. That's why a zone defense is great. Ideally, you put a lid on the big play, and force the other guy to make good decisions. It works great on guys like Cam Newton, but you have to contain him in the pocket. That's why we lost, and need to upgrade our defensive line. It doesn't work as well against Manning or Brady, but nothing really does at that point. High powered offenses are going to continue in the NFL. Do not expect to go back to the old single digit scoring days.

2014 - 17 Million under cap and a starting qb making 800k? The Bucs look to be in great shape for 2014 and 2015 seasons but not with this coach. Too many questions he doesn't have the answer for, how much longer are we going to train him? This guy really reminds me of Steve Spurrier. If he was going to make it in the NFL here we would see it. Skipping the NFL coaching ladder - position coach through being given the opportunity and excelling at the offense or defensive coordinator job is ok for a select few but most need to get those skills though the time honor tradition of paying the dues.
Starting someone with next to none experience in the NFL is a complete longshot or a 6 to 10 year investment of time and resources. And the Buc's don't have that amount of time to train him. IMO Lovie Smith would be a perfect fit.

I think the perfect fit would be Bill Bellicheck gets hired as HC...he brings in Tony Dungy as the DC and Jon Gruden as DC.

Short of that a coach with experience that is fresh coming off a year out of football seems to be a real nice fit.

Perfect. I just want to know the rules. Now, what if the coach is partially on the field of play during the play. Hell, I recall one of the repeated clips of Gruden during the SB win actually jumping over a Raider during one of the pick-6's
