Hello

Thanks to all who competed in last week's Predict The Score thread, in which I returned to the pessimism of the 2010 season and was duly proven wrong, hurray!

Now we have a very different game coming up, a curious one in which our team will be very familiar with a team that has traditionally eaten us for lunch, the New York Giants.

Traditionally Giants fans are relatively nice, seeing as they consider us a certain win they will be condescending but typically not insulting... sort of like Baltimore fans.

The rules are the same as always, you have to predict an exact score with your first post then blast away. I let a few go last week because I decided being a rules fanatic was bad for the thread, so unless its really blatant I'll let all of you rip non-predictors.

Now, the game.

Away at a very good team that has had a long week.

We'll try hard but lose closer than most national media will predict.

Tampa Bay 17

New York 24

Your turn.

Edit: Initial prediction changed to Tampa Bay 7, New York 10 somewhere down on page 4!

24-10 Giants. I think we're going to have a lot of trouble blocking their pass rushers, and that spells big trouble for our offense.

That D-line is 10x better than what the Panthers have, but.....Murray ran all over them and Romo killed their secondary.

Tough, physical game.

17-14 Giants.

27-20 Giants

Might not be a win but at least it's not a blowout.

Not predicting a win this time. Not that we can't beat the Giants (any given Sunday) I just don't see it happening when the defending champs have 10 days to prepare in their own house against a team that's clearly improved but not a world beater. I think we're just not at that level yet because our team needs to play together more.

I predict the run game will struggle a little bit but will keep trying all game long and the Giants will get some pressure on Freeman and maybe force him into a few mistakes. Despite this I highly expect us to be competitive and score on them a little bit.

If the Giants underestimate us and prepare for the 2011 Bucs we could walk out of NY winners in like a 17-16 a dogfight that sees us win by the skin of our teeth because the Giants will wake up around halftime and realize they need to get serious, take over the game late but we manage to hold them off with some luck.

But with things how they are I expect the Giants to win something like 21-13

A win is possible but I just don't see it like I could see us winning last week. We will have to win the battle in the trenches. Carl Nicks and Donald Penn are going to earn their pay next week and I think they along with Clayborn and McCoy will be the most important players of the game.

Giants D is pretty banged up. But OL better play better or their DL could eat us.

24-20 Bucs

No doubt that we looked like the much better team this week. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. The champs won't start 0-2.

Giants win 24-20.

14-20 Giants. Freeman game winning drive gets shutdown by a fourth-down sack.

Two points to add today.

One, in case you missed it LegacyBroken, you won the Week 1 contest, the sig is yours to wear whenever.

Two, here is the official opposing fan forum, as I said they're usually polite there but they DO have a smack forum, have fun.

Bucs make a statement in the NFL beat the Giants 31-14 on the road. Forced 3 picks on Manning and sacked 4 times.

Giants always stagger out of the gate early in the season. Bucs win with a field goal barrage.

Bucs 19

Giants 17

24-13 Giants. Sorry boys (and girls), we're not on that level yet.
